Irritable Bowel Syndrome

A popular drug used to treat the medical condition of irritable bowel syndrome, Zelnorm, was pulled from the market by the Corporation Novartis. Zelnorm has now been linked to an increased risk of heart attack and stroke. The FDA recommended to Novartis recall the Zelnorm Drug.

Due to increased pressure from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) the Swiss pharmaceutical giant Novartis announced on March 30, 2007 that it would suspend all marketing and sales of its' popular Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)-treatment drug Zelnorm throughout the United States due to a recent study that potentially reveals that the drug can cause serious and potentially fatal cardiovascular-related side effects.
