Experience

HECTOR Q. MARTINEZ was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas.  Hector graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio, with a Humanities Degree in 1995, and soon went on to receive his law degree from St. Mary's University School of Law in San Antonio, Texas in 2001.  While in law school at St. Mary’s Hector was a member of the Scholar: St. Mary’s Law Review on Minority Issues, and served as a teaching assistant for mediation, negotiation, and a law in philosophy course, as well as being a member of the Hispanic Law Student Association.

Currently, Hector focuses his time and knowledge to represent individuals faced with probate, property inheritance, or bankruptcy issues, as well as helping individuals gain peace of mind when they are making decisions related to the future, such as what is the next step in dealing with the assets, home, or insurance of a recently passed loved one, what information does one need to prepare a Will, and how do I designate the person who will care for me when I need help dealing with my financial affairs or need immediate medical attention if I am incapacitated.

Since 2001 Hector has also taught negotiation as an adjunct professor at St. Mary's University School of Law, in the Alternative Dispute Resolution section headed by L. Wayne Scott.   To expand his knowledge of negotiation, Hector attended the Harvard Law School, Program of Instruction for Lawyers Negotiation Workshop in 2003.

In addition, Hector has been a mediator during the San Antonio Bar Association's "Settlement Week” as well as helping out at the St. Mary’s Wills Clinic.  These programs provide pro bono legal representation for residents of San Antonio and Bexar County who would otherwise not receive legal advice.
