A 30 foot high retaining wall failed in a residential subdivision in Northwest San Antonio Texas causing an evacuation of 80 homes. The massive tension cracks that opened along the wall and behind it were 12-15-ft deep and 6-8-ft wide. Reportedly, the wall had problems even before the subdivision was even constructed. More after the break.  Some of the latest info that came out is that the retaining wall in question did not have a permit from the City of San Antonio for its construction.
