Police say that the officer was driving over the hill on Loop 410 and Summit Parkway on the Northwest side of San Antonio when for unknown reasons, she collided with the tow truck parked near the side of the road. The officer was responding to a single-vehicle rollover, where a woman apparently lost control of her vehicle when exiting the highway. A tow truck that was helping at another accident nearby stopped to help the woman whose condition was not reported. The officer who collided with the tow truck sustained only minor injuries and was transported to the hospital to get checked out. The driver of the SUV said that she had not been able to locate her dog, a chihuahua mix, who went missing after the accident. The investigation is still ongoing.<\/p>\n<p>In the case of a single-vehicle rollover accident, it is usually impossible to move the damaged vehicle off the road to a safer location. However, if you are in an accident and you are not seriously injured, or if your vehicle is not damaged in a way that makes moving it impossible, it is recommended that you move your vehicle off of the road to a nearby parking lot when waiting for emergency services. In Texas, it is state law that vehicles be moved off the highway for a fender-bender or minor accident. This is in order to keep you, the other driver, and emergency responders safe. Texas highways, especially at night, are not a place you want to be stopped, as other drivers are not expecting it, and visibility can be greatly reduced at night. Finding a safe place off of major roads is a good way to prevent further injury or damage to yourself and your vehicle after a Texas auto accident.
