4 People Hospitalized in a Devastating Rollover Accident on the East Side

According to a KSAT News report, 2 people were seriously injured, and 4 were sent to the hospital after a major accident on the East Side this week.

A man in a pickup truck was reportedly traveling westbound down Rigsby when he struck another pickup on W. W. White Road traveling northbound. The impact caused the second pickup truck to roll while 3 people were inside. They were able to escape the vehicle with the help of witnesses. The man in the first pickup had to be extracted from his vehicle by firefighters. All four people were hospitalized, two with serious injuries. The driver who caused the accident was reportedly assessed for a DWI at the hospital.

Intersection Accidents in San Antonio: What You Need to Know.

Many of the most fatal kinds of accidents happen at intersections.

You would think that intersections would be safer — after all, they almost always have stop signs, traffic lights, and painted lines to clearly indicate what drivers should do. But people don’t always do what they’re supposed to, and people suffer harm in accidents as a result.

Top 3 Most Common Intersection Accidents

50% of fatal and nonfatal accidents occur at intersections across the United States. The most common intersection accidents are:

Rear-End Collisions

Rear-end collisions involve one vehicle striking the back of another vehicle head-on. These crashes are less likely to end in a fatality than the other two we’ll discuss but do often end in serious injury for one or more people involved. The most common contributing factors to rear-end collisions at intersections include:

  • Speeding,
  • Distracted Driving (texting, eating, checking navigation, picking music, etc.),
  • Tailgating (following too closely), and
  • Running Red Lights

T-Bone Collisions

Also known as side-impact collisions, T-bone collisions are among the most common and dangerous intersection accidents. They occur when one vehicle strikes the side of another. These often result in serious injuries and fatalities and can cause rollovers. T-bone collisions are usually the result of:

  • Failure to Yield,
  • Running Red Lights, and
  • Improper Left Turns

Pedestrian Accidents

About one pedestrian died every 66 minutes in traffic crashes in 2021. These accidents are almost always on urban roads near shopping centers and at intersections. Pedestrian accidents are far more likely to end in fatality, especially when pickup trucks and SUVs are involved. Contributing factors include:

  • Drunk Drivers/Pedestrians,
  • Distracted Driving,
  • Speeding, and
  • Unsafe Crossing Behaviors

For all the accidents that occur at intersections across San Antonio, negligence is almost always involved. If you were hurt by a negligent driver at an intersection, you may be entitled to legal compensation.
