Commercial Drivers and DWI

If you are a commercial driver, you are likely aware that you are held to a different and higher standard than other drivers. Those who hold a Commercial Driver’s License (“CDL”) know that even routine traffic violations can result in license suspensions, subsequently affecting their livelihood. The consequences are even harsher for those commercial drivers who are arrested and convicted of DWI.

While the criminal process is the same for both CDL holders and non-CDL holders alike, the administrative and license consequences are much more difficult for commercial drivers. Commercial drivers will have their license suspended for an entire year under the following circumstances:

  • First conviction of DWI alcohol
  • BAC of .04 or higher while operating a commercial vehicle
  • BAC of .08 or higher while operating a personal vehicle
  • Refusal to submit to a BAC test

If you have are a commercial driver who has been arrested for DWI, contact us to save your livelihood by do everything we can to fight your license suspension.
