Driver of the Vehicle Pulled from the Guadalupe River Identified

(February 27, 2023) Police identified the body of Noel Hernandez (29) after recovering his body from the Guadalupe River in Seguin. According to MYSA News, the Seguin public information officer Jennifer Sourdellia stated that the department received a call after a speeding vehicle on I10 was spotted losing control and tumbling off the bridge and into the Guadalupe River at around 2 a.m. on Thursday, February 9. It took the police several hours to find and extract the vehicle and the deceased driver from the river. As far as they could tell, there were no other passengers, and no injuries were reported from this tragic accident.

(February 15, 2023) A four-year-old girl was found dead after being trapped in a trailer that erupted into flames on Sunday, February 12, 2023, on the southwest side of Bexar County. The flames also severely burned two residents of the trailer home, as well as a firefighter and sheriff’s deputy, and two other deputies needed to be treated for smoke inhalation after rescue attempts. This tragedy is currently under investigation by the sheriff’s and fire marshal’s offices, and the identity of the young girl has not been released at this time.

The vehicle reportedly swerved across three lanes on I-35 before crashing into a concrete on-ramp pillar and catching fire at 4:30 a.m. on the Northeast side of San Antonio. Unfortunately, recent statistics found that drunk drivers were involved in 44% of fatal crashes on Halloween weekend. When not fatal, accidents involving drunk drivers almost always involve severe injuries like Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Spinal Cord Injury (SCI), which can change the victim’s life forever. Fatal pedestrian accidents are also up on Halloween, and 23% of these accidents involved a driver or motorcyclist with a BAC of 0.08% or higher.

(September 19, 2022) On February 17, 2020, a 19-year-old girl named Jasmine Marie Goudeau was driving home down Culebra Road just after midnight. She was driving through an intersection just one block away from her home when a suspected drunk driver ran a red light, T-boning the vehicle and killing her. On March 5, 2022, two pedestrians were killed on the same night, one of whom was crossing Culebra Road. Deadly accidents on Culebra are not uncommon. In fact, a report by San Antonio Express-News compiled data provided by the Texas Department of Transportation and found that Culebra is the deadliest frontage road in San Antonio.
