Three Killed in Fatal Head-On Accident in Winters, TX

However, passing another vehicle on the highway is one of the most dangerous driving maneuvers a motorist takes on a daily basis. In fact, according to the most recent data from the Texas Department of Transportation, there are dozens of fatal Texas traffic accidents each year involving passing. One of the reasons why passing is so dangerous is that these accidents often involve head-on collisions.

Recently, three people were killed in a fatal traffic accident occurring just outside Winters, Texas, on State Highway 153. According to a local news report, the accident involved a Ford Edge and a Chevy Tahoe. Evidently, the Ford Edge was traveling westbound on SH-153 about six miles outside of Winters, TX. At the same time, the Chevy Tahoe was traveling eastbound. The driver of the Tahoe attempted to pass several vehicles. As the Tahoe entered the westbound lanes, it collided head-on with the Edge.

The impact from the collision caused the Ford Edge to catch fire. The driver of the Edge, as well as the passenger and a child in the back seat, were all pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Two other minors, also in the Edge, were seriously injured and transported to Hendrick Medical Center with critical and incapacitating injuries. The driver of the Tahoe also suffered severe injuries but is expected to recover.

Texas Racetrack Accident Claims One Man’s Life and Injures Bystanders

Earlier this month, an accident in Fabens, TX, near the border with Mexico, claimed one man’s life and seriously injured several others. According to a recent news report, the collision occurred during a mud racing event when one of the vehicles on the track lost control and crashed into a crowd of bystanders.

Evidently, one witness caught some of the events leading up to the accident on tape. The video shows a vehicle starting to fishtail before it knocks over several cones. People are heard screaming in the background. The video then cuts out. Another video from the immediate aftermath of the accident shows a white truck stopped under a tent designated for spectators. The video shows one person lying on the ground. Several other vehicles can be seen in the immediate vicinity.

One man was killed in the accident, and seven others were seriously hurt. Authorities are still investigating the accident, as it was initially unclear what caused the vehicles to leave the track and why there was not a more substantial barrier between the track and spectators. It remains unclear if this was an officially sanctioned event or just a group of people who arranged a recreational race.

Two Killed in Texas Truck Accident in West Texas

Earlier this month, on the tail end of Memorial Day weekend, two people were killed in a truck accident occurring on Interstate 10 near Van Horn. Heavy rain was a contributing factor in the fatal collision.

According to a local news report, a Honda SUV was traveling eastbound on I-10. Due to the heavy rainfall, the driver of the Honda lost control. The vehicle spun out, coming to a stop while blocking several lanes of traffic. Moments later, the driver of an 18-wheeler approached. The truck driver did not stop in time and collided with the SUV. The truck then traveled onto the shoulder, where it flipped over. Another approaching semi-truck then crashed into a rolled-over 18-wheeler.

The passenger in the SUV and the driver of the 18-wheeler both died as a result of injuries they sustained in the accident. The driver of the SUV and the driver of the semi-truck were injured, although they are expected to recover.

Two Missionaries Killed in Weather-Related Texas Car Accident

pexels-matheus-bertelli-799463-300x169 Recently, two young men were killed in a fatal Texas car accident. According to a recent news report, the accident occurred in Denton, TX. Evidently, the two men were heading northbound on Sherman Drive when a southbound driver in an F-150 veered out of his lane. The two-vehicle hit head-on. Emergency responders told reporters that both young men were dead upon their arrival.

The accident occurred during a very heavy rainstorm, which authorities believe may have played a role in the accident. Apparently, more than one inch of rain fell over the previous hour, which means the conditions were extremely wet. According to U.S. Government measurements, any amount of rain over about .04 inches an hour constitutes a “heavy shower.”

Authorities in the area are investigating the accident to determine whether there were any other contributing factors. However, investigators noted that both of the accident victims were wearing their seatbelts at the time.

Texas Politician Arrested Following DWI Car Accident

Recently, State Representative Dan Huberty was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after allegedly crashing his Corvette into a minivan. According to a local news report, the collision occurred in Montgomery County, TX, in the evening hours.

Evidently, when law enforcement officers arrived on the scene, they discovered Huberty’s Corvette “parked under a minivan.” The three people in the minivan at the time suffered minor injuries, and Huberty was uninjured. Huberty told police that he was on his way back from the legislative session in Austin.

One of the deputies who arrived shortly after the accident heard Huberty explain that the driver of the minivan slammed on her brakes, leaving him no time to stop. However, an unrelated witness to the accident told officers that Huberty ran a red light and that he didn’t apply the brakes before rear-ending the minivan.

May 24, 2021, San Antonio, TX – Every summer families head to the beaches, lakes and pools to beat the heat and cool off. Summer fun also means a serious focus on summer safety. Texas had the deadliest rate of child pool and spa drownings in 2019 for children under age 15. Drowning can happen anywhere which makes it necessary for everyone to practice water safety.

Just last week a two-year-old toddler died after squeezing through a safety gate and falling into a swimming pool here in Texas and another drowning tragedy involving toddlers occurred in Florida at a daycare center. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), drowning is one of the top causes of unintentional deaths for children in the U.S. There are nearly 400 pool-related drownings per year involving children.

In the U.S. drowning takes an average of 3,500-4,000 lives per year. That is nearly 10 fatal drownings per day. The CDC reports an average of 3,536 fatal unintentional drownings annually in the U.S. An additional 332 people die each year from drowning in boat-related incidents.

Malfunctioning Crane Causes Fatal Texas Car Accident

Last month, an accident involving a construction crane and a pick-up truck claimed the lives of two men. The accident occurred in Jefferson County on Interstate 10, near Beaumont. As is often the case in fatal Texas car accidents, news reports conveyed conflicting information in the immediate aftermath of the collision.

What is known is that two men were traveling westbound on I-10. As they approached a section of I-10 where crews were working on widening the highway, they collided with a crane. Both men were immediately killed in the collision.

Initially, reports indicated that a large commercial vehicle was towing the construction crane, which somehow became dislodged from the truck. As the crane broke free, it collided with the pick-up truck.

Seven Children Injured in Texas School Bus Accident

Recently, two school busses in Texas City, TX, were involved in a collision during afternoon drop-off that injured seven students. The accident occurred when two Independent School District busses were approaching the intersection of Bay Street extension and 25th Avenue North at around 4:30 p.m. Evidently, the first school bus pulled up to the intersection and stopped at a stop sign. The second school bus failed to stop in time, rear-ending the first bus. Authorities have not released the total number of students on board the busses, and the accident remains under investigation.

While law enforcement has not yet released the official details of the accident, preliminary news reports offer conflicting information. Initially, police indicated that seven people were injured in the accident. According to one report, emergency responders took two of the injured students to the hospital, and the other five were released to the care of their parents. However, another report indicated that four students and the driver of the school bus were hospitalized, and two students were immediately released to their parents.

There is no indication of the seriousness of the students’ injuries. However, it appears everyone who was admitted to the hospital was released that same day. All students involved in the accident attended Levi Fry Intermediate School.

Fatal Texas Car Accident Involving Driverless Car Claims Two Lives

Last month, two people died when the Tesla Model S they were driving veered off the road and crashed into a tree. After colliding with the tree, the vehicle burst into flames. According to a news report released shortly after the accident, it took firefighters four hours and 30,000 gallons of water to put out the fire. A feat that was complicated by the fact that the vehicle’s electric battery continued to re-ignite.

In the initial aftermath of the accident, authorities believed no one was in the driver’s seat when the collision occurred. However, Tesla representatives also inspected the wreckage, and the company immediately disputed the claim that no one was driving. For example, Tesla initially claimed that the preliminary data recovered from the car’s onboard computer system did not indicate that the vehicle was in Autopilot mode. Tesla CEO Elon Musk also noted that this particular Model S was not equipped with “Full Self-Driving Mode,” an optional feature.

In the weeks following the accident, Tesla continues to claim that someone was driving the car at the time of the accident. According to an article released weeks later, a Tesla representative pointed out that all the seatbelts were unbuckled when emergency response crews arrived, explaining that the Autopilot feature does not work unless all seatbelts are worn. Additionally, Tesla claimed that because the vehicle’s steering wheel was “deformed,” it was likely that someone was in the driver’s seat. In response to Tesla’s claim, law enforcement released a statement that they were 100 percent certain that no one was in the driver’s seat.
