In the case of a single-vehicle rollover accident, it is usually impossible to move the damaged vehicle off the road to a safer location. However, if you are in an accident and you are not seriously injured, or if your vehicle is not damaged in a way that makes moving it impossible, it is recommended that you move your vehicle off of the road to a nearby parking lot when waiting for emergency services. In Texas, it is state law that vehicles be moved off the highway for a fender-bender or minor accident. This is in order to keep you, the other driver, and emergency responders safe. Texas highways, especially at night, are not a place you want to be stopped, as other drivers are not expecting it, and visibility can be greatly reduced at night. Finding a safe place off of major roads is a good way to prevent further injury or damage to yourself and your vehicle after a Texas auto accident.
