In Texas it is a crime for an attorney or his or her employees to call or approach the family of an accident victim. A Case Runner is a person who receives a pecuniary benefit, money, from a lawyer or attorney, to solicit, procure or attempt to procure a client or possible victim at the direction or request of a lawyer whose purpose is to make a fee. It is unlawful for a lawyer, whether directly or through a paid person, a capper, a coyote, a runner, an ambulance chaser or steerer to solicit for financial gain a client who has suffered an injury or loss.

You may also be entitled to all of the attorney fees ever paid to that lawyers - in the form of a "full refund" called the "disgorgement of fees" if such is the case.
