He was wounded in the shoulder and was taken to the hospital in stable condition. Gamez’s bail is set at $75,000, and police are investigating the matter as a possible case of road rage.

A woman identified as forty-two-year-old Corina Huerta was killed in a pedestrian accident while walking to her car, according to a San Antonio Express-News report. The woman was walking to her car in a downtown parking lot on Brooklyn Avenue and Dallas Street when she was pinned between two vehicles on Tuesday, May 30, 2023. The driver stopped at attempted to help the woman, who later died of her injuries at the hospital. According to the report, the police determined the driver was not intoxicated at the time of the crash.

Thursday night, on May 25, 2023, a woman was hit and killed by a vehicle when crossing the street on the 1600 block of Pleasanton Road on the South Side of San Antonio, according to a San Antonio Express-News report. Then, Friday morning at around 6:30 a.m., a fatal accident shut down four lanes of I-10 on the Far East Side of San Antonio. No further information was provided for this accident, except that there was at least one fatality.

First-time DWI offenders face steep penalties
Gregg Simmons, a former KSAT News anchor, appeared in court yesterday for a DWI charge, according to a San Antonio Express-News report. The former news anchor was pulled over by police and arrested for reckless driving on January 27, 2023, after they received reports of a driver crawling down the road at 20 MPH and making frequent stops. The report further detailed that he struggled through a field sobriety test and was unable to recite the alphabet when requested. Vials of blood were drawn as the officers were unable to retrieve a breath sample.

(February 27, 2023) Police identified the body of Noel Hernandez (29) after recovering his body from the Guadalupe River in Seguin. According to MYSA News, the Seguin public information officer Jennifer Sourdellia stated that the department received a call after a speeding vehicle on I10 was spotted losing control and tumbling off the bridge and into the Guadalupe River at around 2 a.m. on Thursday, February 9. It took the police several hours to find and extract the vehicle and the deceased driver from the river. As far as they could tell, there were no other passengers, and no injuries were reported from this tragic accident.
