Biomet Litigation Update

As scheduled by a federal judge, the first federally-filed Biomet hip implant lawsuits regarding the M2a Magnum Hip Replacement's first status conference will commence on November 16, 2012.

At that time, the plaintiffs of the Biomet hip replacement lawsuits’ liaison counsel and steering committee will be appointed in the Northern District of Indiana's U.S. District Court with Judge Robert L. Miller presiding.

On October 2, a consolidation of all federally-field Biomet hip implant lawsuits pertaining specifically to the Biomet M2a Magnum Hip implant Replacement devices took place for pre-trial proceedings and transfer to Indiana's Northern District by MDL's U.S. Judicial Panel.

There are currently eight pending Biomet hip implant lawsuits concerning this particular metal-on-metal hip replacement product in six federal jurisdictions. An additional 57 actions are possibly and potentially related to the eight. All of the complaints are similar in nature, which are claims that the Biomet M2a Magnum Hip Replacement's metal-on-metal design is responsible for metal ions of a dangerously high level to enter into the bloodstream and the surrounding tissue. The complaints state that metallosis may occur as a result of the Biomet metal hip implant, and may also cause earlier-than-expected hip implant failure.

Biomet lawyers expressed their pleasure with the Biomet hip implant lawsuit litigation proceeding.

Metal-on-Metal Biomet Hip Implant Lawsuits

There are numerous metal-on-metal hip replacement lawsuit MDLs that are pending currently all across America.

The Biomet hip implant is one of the latest to exhibit the same or similar issues with its Metal on Metal Hip.

There are at least a 500,000 Americans that have gone through the artificial hip replacement process. Many of these artificial hip implant patients have received a metal-on-metal hip implant of some kind.

The Biomet M2a Magnum is a very popular all-metal hip implant device and therefore has been used in thousands of different patients. As a result of its popularity and its allegedly defective design Biomet has been the target of hundreds of Biomet hip implant lawsuits and potential class action lawsuits.

Free lawsuit consultations are currently being offered for those suffering from injuries resulting from a Biomet hip replacement or similar devices that use metal-on-metal design.

Patients who have experienced failures of their implants, metal poisoning, severe pain, or revision may qualify for compensatory damage to help offset medical care, compensation for their pain and suffering, or other injuries.
